TT01 and Castle Creations 5700 motor + ESC Project

Post  Pop on Wed Apr 22, 2009 9:01 pm

As the title says I am currently in the process of fitting a new HPI Firestorm 10T Brushless + ESC into my stock TT01.

What I have done tonight is:

* fitted the anodised blue aluminium driveshaft
* installed new 5700 motor and ESC
* greased both front and rear diffs
* installed the carbon upper deck for strength
* ran through the ESC setup along with the LiPo cutoff setup

Unfortunately it is too dark to go outside and drive the car...arrghhh! But I will give it a run first thing in the morning and report back how it goes.

This motor may well be too much for the TT01, but I guess time will tell Wink

Wow!

I can't say anything else other than holy shit wow! The TT01 with this motor is almost undriveable it's that fast. We did a simple doghnut turn and the thing got airborne and flipped on its roof it spun that fast.

Handling the extra horespower is tricky to say the least. It was at night and darkish even under the lights so a top speed run was dubious at best, but we gave it several good shots Very Happy Twisted Evil Top speed would be considerably faster than the HPI E-Firestorm but I may be proven wrong once we can get a side by side comparison.

I went up from the 19t pinion gear to a 21 tooth pinion and it was no different from what I could tell. Will try the 23 tooth pinion this weekend and see what it does.

Verdict... OH YEAH! Twisted Evil
